EE专业就业方向比较广泛，包括电信通信部门、电信通信设备制造业、航空航天、医学、军事、电子产品生产领域的相关部分，也包括基础设施建设（地铁系统、电力系统、能源供应、国家电网）和工业生产（智能手机、高清电视、无线路由器）、政府经济管理部门或建设单位、设计单位、建筑施工企业、工程建设监理单位、房地产开发企业、工程咨询公司、国际工程公司、投资与金融，以及高等学校或科研机构。
申请人首先要想好自己未来的方向，是进军工业界还是学术界。而且，去工业界作技术人员还是管理岗位作Team Leader或者Project Manager；去学术界作faculty，做教学和研究工作。当然很多时候会出现交叉现象，比如在高校做老师同时自己手里又有项目做。
不同分支方向的就业情况：
• 网络/网络安全/无线网络(Computer Networking)：与工业界的联系紧密，研究课题实用，代表公司：Cisco, Juniper,华为等。
• 通信和信号处理（Communications and Signal Processing) ：就业压力较大，其中通信网络行业（Wireless Communication ）市场很大，但同时吸收计算机行业的毕业生。
• 新能源（Renewable Energy）：从市场需求到政府强力支持都很充足，有风险，Start up较多，可能不够稳定。
• 生物医疗（Biomedical）：生物医疗器械行业，可以拓宽到生物技术或者是制药行业。如果研究方向对口GE，Phillips，Boston Scientific等公司，就业前景非常好。
• Digital/Analog Integrated Circuit Design数字/模拟电路设计：EE/ECE龙头方向，科研项目与工业界联系非常紧密，如Intel，NVDIA，IBM等。
• Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) ：在美国的科研环境很好，但在工业界是一个较新的方向，代表公司：Analog，Qualcomm等
• Optics光电方向： OE devices是一个很大的范围了，corning，IBM，Intel，这些都是有很多OE devices相关的研发工作的。
薪资情况
美国EE专业毕业生的平均工资为8w+美金，仍然属于较高收入的专业。国内薪资水平没这么高，一般EE专业起薪6w+RMB左右，当然个人能力与所在行业略有差异，薪资待遇自然也不尽相同。
