家长在帮助孩子准备美国本科申请材料的时候，总有各种疑问，以下会通过open doors统计的三所招收国际生最多的学校来分析申请美国本科到底需要哪些材料，并举一反三：
University Of Southern California 南加州大学
排名：23 国际生9840人
Financial Statement of Personal or Family Support
Each international applicant relying on personal or family support must furnish, at the time of application, a completed Financial Statement of Personal or Family Support and appropriate original financial documents, such as savings deposit and checking account records or bank letters signed by bank personnel, stating the sponsor's name and address and verifying the ability to pay the annual cost of education-related expenses for the first academic year. The financial document must be verified by a bank.
南加州大学所需材料第一条：银行存款证明，需包含在学校的第一年学费加生活费的总支出，因此出国留学申请材料不可缺少的是去银行冻结3-6个月的证明，说明这笔钱完全可以支付未来的费用，给学校承诺。
Academic Records
You must provide one official copy in your native language, sent directly from your school and accompanied by a certified English translation, of all records of academic course work. Required records include: Yearly secondary school records that indicate the courses taken and grades/marks received; Yearly records from each college or university attended that indicate the number of lecture and/or laboratory hours per week, per course, and the grade received in each course (for transfer students only); and Official documents verifying the award of all secondary school diplomas and/or academic certificates with the title and date conferred.
成绩单也是最重要的材料之一，学校要求成绩单必须是中文原版及附带英文翻译件，同时需包含从初三到高三的所有成绩（9-12年级），同时，如果学生已经开始上大学，也要提供大学成绩单。有一点比较重要，如果学生已经毕业也需要提供毕业证书，未毕业，需要提供在读证明，包含学时和学制。
Test Scores
First-year and transfer applicants whose native language is English are presumed to be proficient. This includes applicants from countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada (except Quebec) where English is both the first language of the country and the language of instruction. Applicants with minimum scores of 100 on TOEFL iBT (with at least 20 in each section), 600 on SAT Critical Reading, or 27 on ACT English are presumed to be proficient.
南加州对于sat总分没有限制，但是对于阅读部分需要达到600分，另外toefl分数也需要达到100分。硬性要求是相当高的。

Application
The application includes a list of your high school courses and grades, a major selection, two essays, a list of extracurricular activities, and honors and awards.
伊利诺伊大学首先对高中修的课程和成绩注重，另外还要提供对未来专业的选择，两篇申请文书，和高中时期的活动，奖项列表。
Application Fee
A nonrefundable $50 application fee ($75 for international applicants) can be paid by credit card upon submission of the application or by check.
对于国际生来说，大部分学校在递交申请的时候，需要申请费，伊利诺伊大学的申请费用为75美金，因此学生们需要一张开通网上支付的信用卡。
English Proficiency
You must meet one of the following conditions to satisfy our minimum English proficiency requirement: Score at least 25 on the ACT English portion or 550 on the SAT I Critical Reading portion; Score a minimum of 80 on the Internet-based (ibt) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The Colleges of Business, Engineering, and Media require a minimum total score of 100 iBT.; Score a minimum total of 6.5 on the International English Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6 on all four modules. For Business, Engineering, and Media, the minimum score is 7.5 total with a minimum score of 7 on all four modules.
伊利诺伊大学对sat阅读部分也提出了要求，需要最低超过550分，同时toefl如果选择商科，工科或者传媒类的，需要达到80分，雅思7.5分，底线分数比较高。
Purdue University 普渡大学
International Undergraduate Student Application
Original or attested copies of original academic documents from all secondary and post-secondary schools attended. Documents should be uploaded to the Common Application. If the documents cannot be uploaded to the Common Application, they must be mailed in a sealed envelope from a secondary school or examination board or university. To be evaluated, secondary documents must include 3 consecutive years of completed coursework. In some cases, students may need to send records from junior high.
普渡大学需要提供原始高中成绩单，并且需至少连续三年的全部已完成课程，如果需要的话，初中成绩单也需要提交。
Check or credit card for $60.00 drawn on a US bank to cover the application fee.

Test Scores:
TOEFL: Test Of English as a Foreign Language：score of 550/213*/79** or higher (General)score of 570/230*/88** or higher (College of Engineering, College of Science, Krannert School of Management)*In addition to the the above requirement for the Total score, the following minimum scores must be met: Listening 16, Writing 18, Speaking 18 and Reading 19.SAT: Scholastic Assessment Test ：score of 480 or higher on the Critical Reading section. Students are strongly encouraged to submit SAT scores.IELTS: International English Language Testing System：score of 6.5 or higher，In addition to meeting the total requirement, a minimum score of 6.0 is required for each section of the test
普渡大学要求toefl分数必须高于79分，同时如果申请的是工程学院或者商学院等toefl需要88分以上，同时，普渡大学还对分项分数有要求：听力16分，写作18分，口语18分，阅读19分。SAT分数要是强烈需要的，阅读需要超过480分以上。
从以上中国学生申请较多的美国大学来看，我们基本上能得到以下几个结论：
1 每个美国大学都会对高中生的平日成绩看重，因此学生如果希望申请到排名较高的学校，需要在高中阶段保持良好的GPA，以及合适的课业难度，以证明学生本人的学术能力，这是任何其他材料不能够弥补的。
2 传统意义的分数已经不是最重要的部分，很多家长会询问，toefl考100分还是80分，sat是考2000分还是1800分？从上述学校里可以清楚了解到，学校没有对总分提出要求，但是都对sat思辨阅读部分有很高的要求，这也是中国学生较为薄弱的部分。同时学校也对学生的toefl单项提出要求，除了总分达到之外，分项分数不能过低。
3 学生需要办理一张能网上支付的信用卡，无论是master或者是visa，都可以使用，但是信用卡办理需要时间，因此需要早作准备。
4 存款证明到底需不需要？需要冻结多久？需要存多少？可以看到，很多学校现在在申请的过程中不需要存款证明，例如加州系统大学，但依然有很多学校需要这份材料，例如上述学校南加州大学，而金额大都需要含括一年的学费加生活费，如不出意外50万人民币足够。另外，时间以能囊括申请时间为宜，例如早申请11/1日开始，那么从10月中旬开始存入，只需要冻结三个月就足够，但如果还需继续申请正常申请，那么10月中旬开始至少冻结六个月才可以完成。
5 最后一点，也是提醒家长，美国学校不需要学生提供原始的奖状和证明，更多的是希望孩子在参加活动过程中有所经历，感受和成长，因此活动，奖状很重要，但是更多的是真实的体现在申请表格以及文书中，经过排版，整理，思考，写作，最终在申请中发挥最大的作用。
