MS in Business Analytics --STEM  

This program was formed and structured following many interactions with corporations, alumni and students. It emphasizes on developing new insights and understanding of business performance using data, statistical and quantitative analysis, and explanatory and predictive modeling to help make actionable decisions and to improve business operations. Students pursuing this degree program are provided with a rigorous exposure to optimization and stochastic modeling, and a deep coverage of applications in the areas of analytics. The role of analytics has grown increasingly critical in business, healthcare, government, and many other sectors of the economy.  

偏好分析：

We review each applicant on a number of factors, looking for individuals with strong academic, professional, and extracurricular activities. We base our selections on your past performance, quantitative skills, and communication skills. To ensure diversity in each entering class, we admit students with various backgrounds, experiences, talents, and interests.

MS in Business Analytics –STEM  

该项目对于先修课的要求侧重点在统计学  

Applicants must complete a statistics course before applying. This is to ensure applicants will be successful in our program.  

Eligible statistics courses must be taken for credit from an accredited college or university, and must cover at least one of the following topics:  

Basic probability  

Probability distributions (normal, exponential, etc.)  

Inferential statistics such t-tests, and Chi-square test, confidence intervals, and sampling  

Intro to linear regression  

 

就业分析：  

BA的就业方向主要是当数据分析师和咨询师。在不同行业中专门从事行业数据搜集、整理、分析，并依据数据做出行业研究、评估和预测。虽然这是一个较新的专业，但却有很好的就业前景。在大数据时代，很多行业都需要擅长挖掘和分析数据的人，例如IT、互联网、游戏、通信、金融（券商、投行、基金、资产管理）、医药、咨询、零售等。像麦肯锡，贝恩，波士顿咨询MBB三家去年都收购了专门的BA部门做数据分析。因此BA上午毕业生都比较抢手，就业率基本大于90%，而且薪资水平也较高，平均年薪在7万-8万美金左右。BA相当于其他专业的不同的点：是个工具，不是一个行业。  

就业方向主要分4块：  

1) Consulting（咨询）：非常典型的就业方向解决不同行业的问题，着重problem solving的能力，翻译成数据能够解决的问题，反馈给客户  

2) 金融行业：金融行业的数据应用比较多的，主要可以分投资和信用风险。投资类，domain knowledge的需求很大，极难速成，BA专业做起来还是差的比较远（金融背景来BA可能机会大一些）。信用方面，近年国内的岗位也是越来越多了，各个新型银行基本都有，很多金融科技公司也在做这个，可以重点研究一下。  

3) 市场营销和市场分析：商业分析最开始就是出现在市场营销领域的，所以市场营销市场分析、用户分析、用户行为行为分析也是商业分析用的比较多的领域，比如淘宝用户数据分析  

4) 互联网公司：编程强，可以直接申software engineer  

              data scientist适合编程弱一些但希望做machine learning和modeling  

               （在amazon，这个岗位叫applied scientist）  

              数据分析/产品分析：主要是分析产品分析市场  

                （在amazon这个岗位又叫business intelligence engineer）  

              网站维护，用户浏览等hidden insight数据
